Think Mauritius and your mind instantly conjures up images of powder white beaches and tropical palm trees. However, the country isn’t just about beaches. If you can tear yourself away from the exotic sands for just sometime; Mauritius has a ton of activities, historical sights, and lush forests to offer to its visitors.
It is a small, multi-cultural island in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar, northeast of Reunion and southeast of the Seychelles. Mauritius also controls Rodrigues Island and the remote, sparsely populated Agalega and Cargados Garayos (Saint Brandon) islands.
Leading the tourist attractions, Port Louis- the bustling capital of Mauritius, boasts of French colonial architecture and offers exciting shopping and entertainment venues. Grand Baie is also the amongst the main tourist attractions. Not to miss the Black River Gorges National Park, which is spread across an area of 16,244 hectares and is the best place to watch rare bird species and fauna. Another interesting spot is Chamarel- a village located in the district of Black River where people can see a dune with seven different colors. The dunes are also acknowledged as the ‘Seven Colored Earth’. It’s this uniqueness of the spot that makes it rather popular among tourists.

You will be welcomed & transferred to your hotel. The day is free to relax or take a walk on the beautiful beaches of Mauritius. Overnight at the hotel. (D)
After a buffet breakfast, it’s time to leave for a half-day tour of Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius. We visit the harbour, sheltered in a semi-circle of mountains, the Natural History Museum – famous for some very rare birds now extinct like the Dodo, the National bird of Mauritius. See La Citadelle, a stone fortress situated at the top of a hill. Next, we take you to Port Louis market where you can shop at the local stalls and duty free shops. Overnight at the hotel. (B,D)
This morning after buffet breakfast, we take you on a full day tour of Chamarel and Grand Bassin. We first visit the unique ‘Seven Coloured Earth’ at Chamarel. Enjoy the cascading streams and silent forests. See mounds of yellow, red, blue and green coloured earth. Enjoy magnificent views of the Black River Gorges. Also visit Grand Bassin, one of the island’s two natural lakes. Overnight at the hotel. (B,D)
After buffet breakfast, we proceed to Ile-aux-Cerfs, a beautiful resort on a Robinson Crusoe-like island. Get mesmerized by the picturesque beauty of miles of fine white beaches and crystal clear waters. Relax on the beach, go swimming and enjoy the many water sports activities which are available there at a nominal cost. We also suggest you take a tour of the famous Undersea Walk , an opportunity to walk on the ocean bed. Overnight at the hotel. (B,D)
